JVT: Ridding the World of Landmines Japan’s Contribution

Here is the introduction:

[Japan’s Activities]
Many landmines are still buried in the ground long after the war ended continued to indiscriminately injure and kill people. In 1995, a Japanese construction machinery company began working closely with the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) to modify excavators for demining operations.

For areas where heavy machinery cannot be accomodated, another company provided a solution. Their remotely operated robot utilizes compressed air to carry out demining quickly and safely. These innovative technologies from Japan are helping to relize a Mine-free-world.
